Tracy Rowland

Community Engagement Officer

I am delighted to be joining Carer Support Dorset. I am a Registered General Nurse with many years’ experience, working in both primary and secondary care. I qualified at Kings College Hospital, London, before moving to Dorset to start a family. I have also worked with Public Health Dorset as a Health Programme Advisor with a focus on health improvement and behaviour change. I have always tried to encourage people to make informed choices, giving clear, consistent information, ensuring clients and professionals understand key health and support messages. A main part of my NHS career involved working with many vulnerable groups, such as children/young people with complex care needs. In my most recent role, I supported Primary and Community Care and this included implementing Personalised Care approaches, with a focus on ‘person-worked with community partners and volunteers across Dorset, developing unpaid carer services, identification and support. I enjoy exploring the beautiful Dorset countryside and have recently joined two local walking groups so you will see me most weekends, in full walking gear (including poles), trying not to fall over! I also led conversations to improve health and support outcomes. This acknowledges that people are experts in their own life situation and aims to empower people through constructive discussions. I also practice yoga and meditation to help me unwind.
