Statement from Carer Support Wiltshire – Monday 2nd February 2026.
The Board of Trustees, after careful and thorough consideration, has taken the difficult decision to close Carer Support Wiltshire and Carer Support Dorset with all operations coming to an end on 31 March 2026.
The closure is due to ongoing and significant funding challenges which mean that, despite having explored all viable options to secure the future of the organisation, the charity is no longer able to operate in a financially sustainable way.
Carer Support Wiltshire and Dorset exists to support unpaid carers, and we understand the vital role our services, and the support we provide, plays in the lives of individuals, families and communities across Wiltshire and Dorset. We therefore recognise that this news will be distressing for many. We are also acutely aware of the impact this decision may have on carers and the people they care for, as well as on our partners, staff, volunteers and supporters who have worked alongside us.
Over the next couple of months, we will focus on bringing our services to a close in a planned and thoughtful way and we will seek to manage the process responsibly and with care for those affected. Where possible, we will work with partners to support carers during this transition and we will ensure clear and timely communication throughout the closure period.
We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported Carer Support Wiltshire over the years. This includes the carers who shared their experiences with us, the staff and volunteers who demonstrated dedication and compassion every day, and the organisations and funders who believed in our work.
It has been a privilege to support unpaid carers across Wiltshire and Dorset, and we are proud of the positive difference we have made to many people across Wiltshire and Dorset.
Any questions or requests for further information can be directed to vickiw@carersupportwiltshire.co.uk, which will be monitored throughout this time.
Yours sincerely,
Nigel Sully
