Join carers all over the UK in this protest organised by Carers Trust asking parliament, politicians and the UK government to GIVE CARERS A BREAK!
We all know that carers are hardly ever able to take breaks. Taking 5 minuets to make a cup of tea can feel unrealistic, so taking time to protest for your rights can seem simply impossible. That is why Carers Trust have come up with the genius idea to get carers to protest from their own homes!
They are collecting photos that have been taken by carers at home and projecting them onto Parliament Square on Thursday 22nd July. Everyone involved in this protest are calling the UK Government to make respite breaks a legal right for carers.
Want to get involved in PROTESTING FOR YOUR RIGHT TO RESPITE? All you need to do is take a picture of yourself holding a sign that shows the one thing you’d like to do if you were given a proper break.
Would you take a holiday? Go see some friends? Take a long nap? See family? Whatever you would want to do, it’s time to get involved and tell the UK Government that it is your right to do all these things that non carers get to do every day.
How can you get involved
- Make a sign – on paper, cardboard, anything – and write the one thing
you’d most like to do if you had time for a proper break (ideally under 10 words). - Take a landscape photo of yourself in your home holding this placard, like in
the examples in the photos below. - Remember to make sure it’s just you in the photo, please don’t swear on your placard
or include people’s names, and avoid wearing something with a visible logo.
Send your photos by Wednesday 9th July via this link. If you’re struggling with the form in the link, please email your photo to carersvideos@uncommon.studio.
