‘Several years ago, I unintentionally became a Carer for a family member. At the time I was self-employed and a single parent. Overnight my responsibilities, finances and future changed. My world suddenly became very small, my options felt limited and it was overwhelming. Carers have to go through many challenges on a daily basis and often lose sight of their own wellbeing, hopes and dreams in the pursuit of loving and caring for others.

Carer Money Matters are an experienced and approachable team who can help new or experienced unpaid Carers with guidance, support and solutions to meet their circumstances.

I am delighted to be a part of the team at Carer Support Wiltshire, where we offer a listening ear, support and practical help to the Carer within their role.

Prior to joining the team, I have experience of supporting vulnerable adults whilst working within a Local Government Authority. I am a qualified Holistic Arts Therapy Practitioner, and an advocate for supporting wellbeing through creativity. I believe that we can all take small steps towards better wellbeing each day. Even if that means mindfully appreciating a nice cup of tea, taking 4 grounding breaths or listening to an uplifting piece of music whilst we go about our daily activities.

One thing that I used to worry about the most within my caring role was money.  From personal experience, I would encourage anyone who feels this way to pick up the phone or send an email to one of our friendly advisers. Take a small step and reach out so that we can work together to support you.  If that feels too much, start by writing a list and tackle one thing at a time. We are here to help you.’
