Summer holidays can be hard as a young carer, and the extra hours at home might be difficult to deal with. In this blog post we give ideas for cheap and free ways to keep yourself busy this holiday. It is important that you take time for yourself and spend time away from the person you care for as well. Your needs are just as important as theirs.

Youth Clubs

Youth Clubs across Dorset are offering comprehensive summer programmes at a low cost. This may also include trips. You can find your local youth club on the Dorset Council website.

My Time Young Carers

Offer a Making Memories programme. Through this programme, they offer activity days, residential retreats and online youth group sessions, designed to give young carers the much deserved breaks from your caring responsibilities. Find out more on the My Time website.

Regular Summer firework displays

The Weymouth Summer fireworks are back for 2022. Come down to Weymouth Seafront and enjoy the fireworks – the fireworks kicks off around 9:30pm

Poole Quay Summer Fireworks

Every Thursday from 21st July to Thursday 25th August, there will be free live music, entertainment and fireworks from 7pm until 10pm.

Bournemouth Friday Fireworks

Friday 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th August 2022 with the display at 22:00.

 

Spending time at home
