Unpaid carers are now able to order PPE as needed through a new PPE portal.

If you require PPE – for example to care for someone who lives in a different household, or if you or the person you care for has been exposed to Covid – it is now possible to order it through a new portal. Visit this website to sign up for the service.

The following questions may be useful to ask yourself before signing up to be registered onto the portal.

  • How would you describe the type of care or service that you provide?
  • Do you have access to a computer and an email address? (This can help you identify any users who might need further support either via yourselves or our customer service team)
  • Do you understand the PPE guidance that applies to the activities you carry out?
  • Do you carry out aerosol generating procedures? (Not a requirement for joining the Portal, but if they do it might be helpful to check whether they are fit tested)

The following sectors are eligible to register for the new PPE portal.

  • Personal assistants (or personal asssistant employers)
  • Extra resident unpaid carers
  • Day centres
  • Local authority services (extra care, supported living, care homes, domiciliary care providers etc.)
  • Rough sleeping services
  • Domestic violence refuges

Once you have been signed up, PPE can be ordered after the 7th day from the last order. Supplies will be sent to individuals direct via Royal Mail and, should there be any issues, there is a customer services team available.
