I graduated from the University of Southampton with a degree in Sociology, knowing I wanted to make a difference but not knowing how best to use my voice. Communications for a charity married both my desire to make a difference and my love of the power of words. Being an unpaid carer has a huge impact on your mental health and I never want people to feel alone in that. It’s important to me to use my voice to magnify the experiences of others and to increase the amount people Carer Support Dorset can have an impact on. My family and I have struggled with mental health and dementia, so that many of us, including myself, have had caring needs during periods of our lives. I understand the feeling of being on both sides of that and how important it is to have spaces to speak about your experiences. In my free time, I read everything I can, write my own stories and volunteer for other charities supporting people with their mental health. I enjoy spending time with my friends, my partner and my pet house bunny.
